And I am so glad I did. The form factor is far better, it's lighter, the display is epic, the crease is nearly non-existent, the battery is superb and holding the device in the hand is great. It's easily pocketable and is very snappy to use, very responsive and so far, I cannot say enough great things about it. However, in the end I opted for the Z Fold 8 because the form factor felt different. I am obsessed with how good this phone is to use just with the external screen and use that easily 80% but possibly 90% of the time. The battery is currently lasting me 2 days which is outstanding for such a small form factor. The foldable screen once opened is then truly something special. The phone is brilliantly responsive between screens and feels seamless. The camera is really only average when trying to zoom, but for normal photos of subjects nearby is perfectly acceptable.

I'll be straight: I was skeptical this form factor was worth the price. I was wrong. The inner screen is the thing. Photos don't do it justice, opening this up at a desk and having what feels like a tablet in your pocket is genuinely useful, not just a party trick. Multitasking on the inner display has changed how I work on the go. I'm in Dubai, so I'm always moving between meetings, and having two apps side by side without squinting has been a real shift. The mint/green colorway looks better in person than in marketing shots. Clean, understated. Hinge feels solid, no wobble, closes flush. Previous folds I tried had a slight gap. This doesn't. Camera is competent. Not the reason to buy this phone, but it won't embarrass you. The crease is still there. Anyone telling you otherwise hasn't used one. You stop noticing it after a few days, but it's there. Battery gets me through a full day in the Dubai heat with moderate use. Don't expect two days. Would I buy it again? Yes. Is it for everyone? No you need to actually use the inner screen or you're paying a premium for a party trick.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The smaller display of the front screen is a refreshing change in terms of how it fits in my hand when using it with one hand and the responsiveness of app continuity is great when changing between the two screens which is also helped by the snappy feel of the new hinge. I was at first cautious when using the inside larger screen due to older folding screens feeling delicate but the durability has been massively improved. The battery life of the phone is very comparable if not better than my previous phone, the iphone 16 plus which i got the larger size for the battery, so i dont have to be worried about using the new phone for productivity and media streaming all day and still have charge left until i go to sleep.

The z fold 8 is a nice miniature productivity powerhouse that can easily fit in my pocket. Taking quick notes, creating tasks on ticktick, feel better and more natural on the wider cover screen. Watching video and reviewing PDF files, Word documents, spreadsheets on the inner 7.6 in inner screen is also great, even better when you rotate it from landscape to portrait. Over all this is a nice well rounded phone and a lot of people can make use of this phone no matter the situation or location.

I watch a lot of YouTube videos to learn, read kindle books and fly often, so it's very convenient to have a phone, kindle size screen and tablet in one. It's a dream to have it all in a pocket size! The new width of the closed front screen makes it very comfortable to read and type without needing to fold the phone open. I find myself using it closed a lot more than before, saving battery life. When I picked up the Galaxy Z Fold 8 for the first time, I was just in awe. Before I even got my hands on it, I saw one of the Samsung reps holding it and I was already impressed just watching from a distance. This size sits right in between the Fold 8 Ultra and the Flip 8, and that positioning just works. The outer screen is 5.5 inches with a 10:6 aspect ratio and thin bezels, and the inner display is 7.6 inches with a 4:3 ratio. That 4:3 shape means photos actually fill the screen properly, and honestly, it makes for a genuinely nice e-reader experience too, whether it's open or closed, just because of how light it is. And it really is incredibly light. With a 4,500mAh battery, it still weighs just about 201 grams. So you're getting way more screen than a Flip without the weight you'd expect. What really got me was watching other people experience it for the first time. I stood in the Samsung store and watched people walk up and pick this thing up, and you could see it on their faces immediately. People were genuinely in awe of it, the same way I was. On the camera side, you get a 50MP primary and 50MP ultra-wide rear setup, plus 10MP front and cover cameras. Video goes up to 4K 60fps or even 8K 30fps, and the rear photos pleasantly surprised me with nice edge detection and background blur. My honest gripe is that the front cameras are the same 10MP units as the Ultra, and there's no telephoto, so you lose that zoom flexibility. If camera performance is your top priority, the Ultra is still the better pick, hands down. Fits in your pocket but folds out to a perfect media consumption platform. Battery life is genuinely insane. Regularly finish the day with over 40% despite heavy usage. Software has a few minor imperfections but I'm sure updates will fix that over time.

They're uncomfortable and impractical. This is the perfect form factor - so easy to hold, and the large folded out screen is amazing. Most importantly, it's a true joy to use folded as well because the screen is a perfect size. Feels great in the pocket too. So far the hinge has only creased a little so I just hope it's durable over time. If so, it's perfect. Not gone below 50% battery with moderate use on both screens, including games. Samsung, kudos. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] What an amazing phone! The form factor has reshaped my whole outlook on what a mobile phone can do. This is my first foldable device and to be honest, I've been reluctant to make the switch but boy am I glad I did. The cover display on its own is so useful, I find I use it for every day stuff like emails and answering messages. But when I want to do a bit more, I open the phone and use that amazing large screen. That hinge mechanism is a thing of beauty! Battery life has been solid and is getting better each day as the phone optimises things. On my third charge I had about 35% left at the end of the day. Performance wise, the responsiveness of the display and OneUI is so slick and speedy. Awesome. My one remaining question mark is over durability but that will be answered in the time to come. The device certainly feels solid so I am expecting good things.
